15. Honorary Co-workers

Since many years honorary co-workers have been taking part in the care for prisoners in the Bavarian prisons. They within the frame of their actions should help to mitigate the personal problems of the prisoners, they are caring for to further their education and vocational capacities and - above all - to ease the transition into the liberty for the prisoners. As honorary co-workers may be admitted apt and reliable persons who are older than 21 years and willing to assist in reaching the goal of the treatment.

At this time over 400 citizens are admitted for individual caring and about 700 more persons as otherwise working honorary co-workers in Bavarian Prison Service. They lead groups for counselling, sports or other leisure time activities of the prisoners, counsel them in personal conflicts, help to find a residence and a job and accompany prisoners at short leaves.

In each prison a special contact person for the honorary co-workers was determined who counsels and assists them in their actions.
