As a
basis for the chance of a probation after release crucial importance falls to
the vocational training of a prisoner. In 2000, an evaluation done in the
Bavarian prisons has proved that only approximately 58% of the adult prisoners
and approximately 35% of the juvenile prisoners have completed a vocational
training. Again this result confirmed that great efforts are necessary in the
field of vocational training. The Bavarian Prison Service has taken over these
tasks a long time ago and has created an offer in training fully corresponding
to the current demands.
Altogether 879 qualified professional training places are available in the Bavarian
Prisons in the year 2002, 554 of them for adult prisoners and 325 for juvenile
prisoners.

training places are available for the prisons own working- and house keeping
facilities (locksmith's workshops, carpenter's workshops, electro workshops,
construction workshops, vehicle workshops, printing offices, bookbinders,
tailoring and others).
Besides
that further vocational training like silk-screen printing, data processing,
forklifting courses and others is offered.
